Why!?

I've officially decided that after I get this round right, Evelyn's Doily will be marked as: Finished.

There comes a time when you just get that feeling... that it's time to sign it, seal it, and deliver it.

Let me tell you why:

This is where I am, right now.

If you look closely, you'll see that I have two little inserts yet to complete.

But do you notice anything else?

Such as... a certain space that's too wide to bridge?

Observe: I cut a piece of toilet paper to the approximate size of the insert, seen here:

Now, using that same paper, I checked the space available in the remaining two spots.

Spot 1:

Doesn't quite fit, does it?

Spot 2:

Aaalmost.
But not quite.

I'm still going to try to finish the last two inserts, because I've come this far and because you never really ever know... but I'm not too positive at this point.

Switching Stitches

The other day, I managed to peel myself away from my computer and make it to my embroidery hoop.

I'm currently in the process of filling in the light pink petals, which, cool and amazing as they are, require not insignificant amounts of split stitch in a thread that I can't keep from breaking >_<

So, I decided to switch it up.

I honestly think that, once it's done, it'll look almost exactly like the split stitch.

Buuuut, something cool happened. The sun started streaming through my window--what makes this cool is the fact that my camera spazzes with different types of  light, which can lead to some cool effects.

^_^

P.S., this is about as far as I've gotten.

I think... but no

I keep wanting to say that the right wing is done... but it's not.

>_<

I keep forgetting that that whole big ol' thing is the wing.

Hmph.

What I'm really getting a kick out of, though, is the way it looks with different lighting.

What I did over the weekend...

Is it possible to do less than squat?

Sometimes I wonder.

Unfortunately, it's times like this where I wish there was a word for less than squat.

sub-squat?

Sounds about right. So, I did sub-squat.

Sucked it up

After my previous moaning and groaning over Evelyn's Doily, I found it in me to take another crack at it.

I edited the edit of the new round, took a deep breath, and made progress that seemed much greater at the time!

I did notice something funny when I was done. The new parts seem to be significantly whiter than the main doily. At first I thought it was just a testament to how long I'd been working on it, but now I'm starting to think that I might have confused two shades of white tatting thread that I have.

Now that I think about it though, that's probably what happened.

Whooops!

^_^

I stand corrected. I just checked it, and I did not mix up colors... dang.

Finally finished the blue ^_^

Pretty much self explanatory:

And, I've decided to mess with the color scheme.

A hint of what's to come:

Sudden Urge

Though buried under mountains of school (soon to be nothing more than pebbles, muahaha), I was surprised to receive--and even more surprised that I was able to act on--a sudden urge for needle lace.

In a brief burst of l'aguile, I gained what I guestimate to be an inch on that thick border:

I'm also happy to report that I've been feeling a slight tatting itch.
At this rate, Evelyn's doily might just be finished before Christmas 2015.

Yes, 15.
